Esbjerg 011 – Nørreskoven
In Nørreskoven, you’ll find the largest of Esbjerg’s two Animal Parks.
The forest was founded at the beginning of the 20th century, on the then desolate and windswept areas in the northern part of Esbjerg.
Initially the area was privately funded in cooperation between “Hedeselskabet” and enterprising citizens of Esbjerg, but it turned out the project wasn’t economically feasible, thus the Municipality of Esbjerg took over the area in 1907.
Nørreskoven turned into a favourite retreat for the people of Esbjerg and in 1985 29 acres of the southern part of Nørreskoven, was fenced off and hereby creating the Animal Park.
The Animal Park is home to several species of deer, that walk the park freely, some even roam outside the fences.
The animal population is controlled by skilled professionals. This is done to ensure that the deer population has the right size in terms of land, and to guarantee a healthy and vigorous bunch.
When In Spain… VI
On our last day in Málaga we took a ride on the cable car (only slightly terrifying, if you suffer from acrophobia) to the top of Mount Calamorro to take in the breathtaking view of Costa del Sol, but more so, to enjoy the Birds of Prey exhibition up there…
More on that later (perhaps)…
See, not only birds lived up there. We also came across this little fella…
I wonder if he’s since become the prey for the birds?
Guess who’s back!
Yeah I know: It’s been 7 months since my last post, and I know that this post is not part of my photographic interpretation of Metallica’s “Kill ’em All”.
But I have to admit, that the motivation to pick up the camera has been completely non-existent :-(
It has simply been too much of a burden for me to do and my eager to be creative hasn’t really been there.
But HEY! Things are looking bright(er)… I have a job that I’m really happy about and slowly but safely I’m digging my way out of the depression…
At least I think I am… It feels right!
So it was just great to feel the urge of going out with my Nikon in hand again. I’d seen the MOOtif that I WANTED to shoot and I couldn’t wait to get home from work, so I could take my camera out.
What a fantastic feeling!
I actually found other motifs as well, but I didn’t quite get the pictures I wanted. I guess my skills have gotten a bit rusty. But I guess that’s to be expected!
I’m still not shootin’ for a-pic-a-day, but I sure hope you’ll get to see a lot more from me in the time to come. At least I know I have some ideas I want to try out.
So watch out ;-)
BTW: You will eventually get to see the rest of “Kill ’em All” as photographed by me… I just need someone with long hair for my next shot… Could You be the one?
A Bird In Hand
The saying actually only fit this photo, if it’s the danish version:
A bird in hand is betteer than ten on the roof…
Mostly I just pondered over the fact that the birds had assembled on such a small part of the roof… I wonder if anyone fed them!? :-D
Miss Pinkie And The Nurse
Jeanne had promised to take out my stitches and at the same time I got to say hi to Miss Pinkie of Sweden, her little kitten.
Whilst Jeanne managed to keep me alive, Miss Pinkie used my leg as a scratching board, so all in all good evening! :-D
But hey who am I to complain? I got my stitches removed and a couple of new scars to show for it :-D
This little baby bird was stuck in the nest, whilst its momma was out gathering food.
